Alright. Until yesterday I thought school started on the 8th.
It starts the 3rd. So I just spent the past two hours reading Animal Farm.
Now I have to choose my third and final book. I only have one day to do it, so which one of these will go the fastest?

Empire Falls – Richard Russo

The Joy Luck Club – Amy Tan

My Sister’s Keeper – Jodi Picoult

Cat’s Cradle – Kurt Vonnegut

A Prayer for Owen Meany – John Irving

Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini

Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen

Also, I searched them all on Amazon, and the 3 shortest according to number of pages are Pride and Prejudice, The Joy Luck Club, and Cat's Cradle. But that doesn't necessarily mean they will go the fastest.
Any suggestions?

hmmm
i think you should just do a bit of research on them and find out which one will appeal to you the most.

i doubt pride and prejudice will be an enjoyable read.

Honestly, at this point I just want something that I'll be able to finish in a day. Even if I suffer through it, I need it done by the day after tomorrow.
As far as Pride and Prejudice, the movie at least made me want to stick a pretzel in my eye.

Go to your city library and try to find an audiobook. It's a great reading companion - takes the effort out of reading for you.

I used to be an avid reader by the way. Engineering changed me. Very much.

just get a short summary online. type it into google and read two or three so you get more than one account of the story. i heard that "spark notes" or "cliff notes" are good.

unless you really really want to read any of the books, a summary will go faster than reading the thing. in my experience, reading the notes and summaries instead of the actual book helped me more because: i did better on the multiple choice test at the start of the year, and i didnt waste time reading something i didnt like at all so that the book could gather dust in the back of my locker.
