Any good excercises? Or is it just a case of chugging along powerchords until your hand begins to fall off?

i find the best things for warming up my picking hand are things like the first riff in "Kill the King" by Megadeth; good downpicking stuff that also has a lot of alternate picking in it as well.

Set a nice comfortable drum tempo of between 60 - 100 or so, alternative pack 3 string patterns, then 2 string, then 4 notes a string chromatics.

You can thank me later chief!

I always start playing some chromatic exercises or scales slowly.
Besides being a guitar player, I'm a big fan of the guitar. I love that damn instrument. Steve Vai
