I had an old Washburn that was taking up space so I decided to try marquetry. I started with a pattern with big pieces to make it easier (It's a take-off of a Vangough painting). The process is tedious and it will be a while before I finish it though. Here it is so far.

That looks really cool man! I've never seen anything like that.

That's ****ing amazing. But it's upside down?

No it's not. It's rotated 90 degrees anticlockwise.

It seems it's an afro'd version of Picasso's (not Van Gogh, TS) "The Old Guitarist". Fabulous work.

I've always wanted to try marquetry, but I lack the patience.

Very sweet, TS, and btw, that's Piccasso, not van Gogh.

edit: Nevermind, beaten to it...

Amazing! I also didn't see the guitarist at first. Now it's even more impressive.

I must have been corrected 20 times in the last month about that, but for some reason I keep thinking Vangough.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Yes it does appear to be upside down, but it's actually on it's side. I just kinda liked it that way on the guitar. In the original the guy is sitting cross legged on the ground. I'm not sure what I'm going to do to the sides and back yet.
