So im junior and im taking AP history (i really dont know why)

So after the first week ive spent an hour and a half every night on homework, its not hard just really time consuming. So basically with all this homework i dont have time for other things like guitar, softball and a social life.

And when i start softball in the spring i will get home from practice at 630 and games at 11 or later and then i have homework on top of that.

So what should i do stay in class and see how is goes or drop out to a normal class.

Oh and not to mention i have to pay $60 for the exam at the end of the year.

Drop outta dat class.

Sounds pointless. Why does AP/GT/Honors matter anyway? There's only so much you can learn about the US's history...

don't drop it, its your first week you just need to get adjusted to it so you have time to fit stuff in.

actually if your dumb enough to ask about it on UG then maybe your not right for the class IMHO

I had that class aswell, damn near killed me, and i didn't even pass the test, thus no credit

so if you honestly think you can pass the test, then it would be worth it, 60 dollars for the exam is much better than a few hundred or more for the actual college class. be prepared to work tho

Take my (Serious) advice.

Drop the class.

The US History AP is one of the hardest exams I've ever taken. Ever.

I scored a 2. I studied for months before the thing started, every day.

It was ridiculous. If your school doesn't require it, I say it's not worth it.

Wow. and they just made a new policy saying you need a 4 to pass, not a 3.

ill try these tomorrow.
We have a quiz everyday about what we read for homework.
but this class i major BS, i hate it.

We had quizzes every day too. With those outlines, I managed to get anywhere between 6-10 / 10 on quizzes. For some chapters, I didn't read outlines and got 1-3 / 10 on the quiz. I didn't really care though.

if you don't like the class then just drop it, but if you do like history then stay in it. you're basically getting college credits for free so then when you go to college you don't have to pay for the course.

I hated the class as well, mostly because the teacher wasn't great and had to leave midyear to have a kid. We ended up switching back to the easy, 7th grade books. I ended up with a long list of 1s from almost all of my AP classes and here I am at Uni and finding the work actually easier and a little less time consuming. The only 2 AP classes I learned anything in were Cal and English (also taught by 2 of the best teachers in the school IMO)

I never took AP History but at least with AP English and my area, you only have to pay money if you miss the day of the exam.

You should start a study group (a serious one). It's helping me alot, and if you take the exam, you get 5 points added to your gpa whether you pass or not, or something like that. But if you do pass, which is unlikely because those tests are designed to make you fail, you won't have to take History in college. Does everyone use the American Pageant?

This completely differs from person to person, though.

History is my absolute worst subject - I'm awful at it. I made it through AP US last year with good grades and I made a 4 on the exam. I studied for about an hour the night before the exam.

All he has to do is pay attention in class.

It is really lame that you have to pay for it though, my schools pays for all the students' AP exams.

I don't know anyone who did well on that exam, but our teacher was new to the AP program, so, that could have been why.
I got a 2, but I stopped reading the textbook, I didn't think I was going to take the test, but I found out I got to take it for free, so I gave it a shot.

and its not even the hardest AP Exam. Chemistry has one of the lowest national averages, meaning its one of the hardest exams.

Haha school hasn't even started where I live and I've already spent the tail end of summer doing homework for it.

Edit: My friends and I usually divided up the outlines last year in Euro, we'll probably do the same thing this year in APUSH.

In my school, once you get an AP you can't drop it. And I think I made a grave error in taking APUSH ....

Thats fun, I'm a junior starting tomorrow in that same class 4th period...everyone of my classes is AP, I'm probably going to have way too much time spent on HW and none for comp/guitar like yourself.

Should be fun though. This was one class I was looking forward to forever, US History is da bomb.

I don't do sports, so I dunno what I'd do in your position. I do other EC activities.
