could any1 tel me what the diffence is between a fender standard jaz bass and a deluxe jazz bass i'm going to buy 1 but dont want to spend more then i need too because all i am bothered aoutis sound qaulity thanks

the deluxe has active electronics
and active electronics = more versatile tone

active electronics means you need a battery too. you get a better modern punchy or clacky tone, but you get a better vintage sound with the passive.

the deluxe also has an EQ (not all active basses get one) which means you have a nice way to add mids, lose mids, get more bassiness, get more punch, instead of just treble up, treble down.

lol okay thanks for the advice but do u reckon the standard is gigable? just basically all i need is a bass thats good enogh to gig on aswell as practive so if the standard is good enough to gig on i'll be fine with it

I really don't like the MIM active jazz bass. I prefer the standards. I felt like the active I played was weak and sounded dead.
