my bands looking to compile some covers. we have a chick singer, very country influenced, with an amazing voice. so far,the covers that have interested me are:
fleetwood mac- rhiannon, the chain, dreams (maybe, prolly not all of these)
stevie nicks- edge of seventeen
the beatles-while my guitar gently weeps (moved to D)
phil collins-in the air tonight(this is a definite one, moved up to e or F)
alanna myles- just one kiss(killer tune)

open to male singers on originals, but would prefer female... looking for some rockin tunes...we are borderline metal at some points in original, more experimental rock vein though..ideas,anyone?

they're good ideas^ i hate paramore though lol
and we're really trying to promote originals. looking for covers people will know and remember..we're in a smallish area, we have to get some songs that appeal to more than the teen audience...and we all personally enjoy older tunes..b sides, from classic bands.
we even covered stairway once, and didnt totally slaughter it..i dont think we'll do it again though
EDIT;..dude,why'd u delete ur post.now it looks like im talking to myself lmao
im hick, but not that hick

hmmmm Brad Paisley( i think I spelled it right) is rockey kinda country, so your girl might be able to do him..... and don't worry about female singers or male, just cover them.

Try How Many More Times by Led Zep, Robert plant has a very high voice she might be able to do.
meh

will def. check out the zep tune. brad paisley, havent heard him much..for the gender thing, we tried not to worry..but we got some bad sounding covers going, so im really digging the chick ones, cuz they naturally sounds great. and this girl has a voice man, its amazing that she ever ended up with this small town metal band gone rock. anyways, a lot of guy covers we try dont really work out.ranges are very different. but, thx for the advice, we wont limit ourselves to it. phil collins w. chick vox is insane

try bands like Toronto, Heart, The Cranberries, Boston, Rush...

they either have girl singers of guy singers with high voices

Toronto - Break Down The Barricade or Even The Score (both killer)

Heart- Barracuda, Crazy On You (also killer)

Cranberries - Zombie

Boston - More Than A Feeling, Peace of Mind, well you can't go wrong with Boston.

Rush - Free Will, Limelight, Closer to the Heart

oh and dont forget your basic chick rock tunes like I Love Rock N Roll - Joan Jet and Heartbreaker - Pat Benetar

oh and try some Iron Maiden if you like that kind of stuff... Iron Maiden is the best.

Jefferson Airplane, as ever.

Somebody to Love

White Rabbit

Cranberries stuff is also good - Zombie was mentioned above, Salvation is also quite rocky.

Pink Floyd stuff might sound good with a female singer.

Really, your best bet is to experiment and see what songs she can do in a different octave/style.

Try some Straylight Run, and if you have a guy singer try The Forecast. They're very country influenced.
