If you take what money you have now, and sale everything you own except your Strat, then I bet you'll be able to find a good enough amp that you won't care about pickups for a while.

+1 to getting a new amp.

If you're unhappy with your tone (which is, I assume, why you want new pickups), then the answer isn't getting new pickups---it's getting a new amp.

Regardless of what amp and what pickups you have, your amp will always have a much greater impact on your tone than pickups ever will. In your case, however, you ESPECIALLY need a new amp because no pickup swap will improve your tone through that MG.

While your amp is a huge part of your tone, mabye you don't need to buy anything at all. Unsatisfied with your tone? Try playing differently. Fingerpicking, or thumbpicks, or hybrid picking...switch things up!

Very true; he may not need to buy anything at all, but he has the money and he wants better tone, so he should go for that new amp!

Plus, we're all gear *****s here, and I think it's just natural for us to encourage others to buy more gear.

Spending money on an amp will make more difference than having better pickups thru a crap amp.

i guess i found out why people hate it, because they dont know how to use it and because they've never seen the 6 channels. now whenever i see someone insult spiders, im thinking to myself "stupid n00b..." it's really a great amp.

let me enter a testimony here...

i changed my G-400's stock pups to Seymour Duncan JB and Jazz back when i used a Vox AD30VT as my main amp, the difference in sound was....barely noticeable at best. it's true that some of the frequencies in the highs and lows were slightly improved, but essentially it did NOT make my tone any more desirable.

take it for what it's worth...i REALLY doubt you playing w/ different pups through an MG will have anymore difference than when i played through my vox. get a new amp. sell all your gear minus your guitar and get a NICE tube amp. you'll be in tone heaven!!!

Just give the money to the Moe needs money foundation.

If you need new pick ups for a strat, go for some EMG single coils. Despite the EMG hate, EMG single coils have one hell of a great sound.
Signatures are overrated.
