Yes, it is true. Twentieth Century Fox gave the go-ahead.
But will it be good? Personally, I consider Cowboy Bebop to be among the best television series ever made, so I hope they can do this series justice.
What do you guys think? Discuss.

...Cowboy Bebop?

Is that what you kids call gay sex now a days?
Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.

A live action move based on an animated series? I sense a real winner.

Perhaps a list of cast/directors might dissuade me from a cynical outlook.
#5
well...it's better this than a live-action DBZ movie.

I'd actually love to see a live-action FMA movie. that would be cool. (though probably crap compared to the anime)
#6
Part of me is really excited about it, then the other part of me quickly whips that part into submission and reminds it that the movie will most likely suck really badly.

Have you forgotten DBZ comes out next year?

Which means it will be pretty good since the anime is lower than crap.

SO if Janne and Alexi did a gay porn, would I be the only one willing to buy it?

That's a dumb question, you know everyone in here would buy it too. I know I would!

****ing ditto!!

Why not do Outlaw Star too? Why does Hollywood have to ruin every decent cartoon to exist? I know it's about money, but surely something is sacred?

w00t opinions.

What I liked the most about Cowboy Bebop was the art so I think it'd suck for me.

Want to crush any hope you have whatsoever for this movie, and rape any remaining hope you may have?

They're rumored to be looking into Keanue Reeves to play Spike.

I'll let you cry to yourself for a few minutes.

Yeah, its a double-edged sword, because they could make this movie AWESOME...
...or really sucky.
The main reason I put this up is because I just finished watching the series all the way through for the first time, and man, holy shit.
Never have I recieved so many crazy emotions from a television show. If the movie is anywhere near the level of the show it will be worth the price of admission.

its hard to capture the style of anime in live action, so they'd definitely have to make it more of a blockbuster than a movie for the fans.

but i'd give it a look.
#20
Wow. This could be interesting. I hope it turns out well.

They made a live action movie out of Death Note. That turned out pretty well.

WTF. Keanu Reeves wouldn't even be a good choice to play a dog.

By dog, I don't mean Ein, the dog from the series that was smarter than the humans. I mean dog as in the canine that lives across the road from you that barks at its own turds.

He was good in The Matrix, but that's about it. He's a decent actor for decent movies.

Cowboy Bebop is not Reeves material.

Ok, serious question. Who in the hell are they going to get to play Ed?

They're going to get some creepy chick who has no right to be Ed, can you say Paris?
They're going to use Pamella Anderson for Fey, watch!
They're going to ruin Jet too... I'm not looking forward to this... not even a little anymore

i think it'll be good,

i think they should do a live action elfen lied

try losing the Z, its just dragonball, and it aint the first

they should make a sailor moon live action film, complete with the lesbians (as shown in the original sailor moon)
#30
I really wish they'd stop making live action movie adaptions..

None of them have ever been pulled off well, except Hana Kimi.
But for all i know that could of originally been a drama series adapted to manga.
