So I have my floating bridge guitar in tune, I push down on the whammy bar and it gets stuck in a lower pitch until I pull it up again. Am I meant to pull the bar up myself to get it back in tune?

I've been down to the music store and some guys told me that I had to get it back in tune by pulling the bar back to its original pitch but I was under the impression that floating bridges got back into tune by themselves.

knife edges could be getting blunt, its supposed to go back to original tuning

edit: is it liscenced or original?

is it non locking or locking? either way it should go back up. I recommend just going crazy with some sort of lubricant at the nut and around the bridge
