So I have a Macbook Pro, with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2 NVIDIA 8600 graphics cards. Is it possible to buy games that are strictly PC based and play them, or do I need to get the Boot camp application and run Windows on here to play the games.
#3
It depends on the game. If its a only PC game, than you do need some form of Boot Camp, or parallel desktop or something.

Oh yeah, and if guitar hero got you into the guitar? you're really playing for the wrong reasons.

there is no wrong reason to play a guitar, except for world enslavement and extermination of certain races, but those guys never make it big anyway.

Some games run on the mac though, all blizzard games(starcraft ,warcraft), Unreal Tournament

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

You have to get specific mac games to run any games on a Mac.

you do need bootcamp to do it, because the extensions for programs are different on macs and windows (.dmg vs .exe), so the mac won't be able to read any of the files. either get boot camp, or try getting mac specific games. but if you just got your mac, it should already come with bootcamp, you just need to install XP (because vista sucks)

nice choice in laptops
but yeah boot camp would be needed, but be careful as the install will take over a lot of your hardrdive and make it quite slow.

I don't think any sane human being would buy a mac solely for game use. I have mine for all the music and video editing that I do. I just want to play games also.

this demotivational is pure epic win but linux is even worse imo. the only reason people ever used it was because of the penguin (cause we all know penguins are better than paperclips)

Just run bootcamp, insert a Vista/XP (I recommend Vista) install disk. The rest takes care of itself. Then you can play games.

...modes and scales are still useless.

WIN. Quite true

and to the guy who said linux was worse, its not really. I triple boot (Vista, OSx86, and Ubuntu), and linux has its uses. Server running, anything you don't wanna get viruses from (i watch my porn and checkout websites i don't trust in it).

You fools are funny. Macs aren't that bad. I got one free and was quite skeptical about it, but there honestly isn't much difference.
