im looking to buy a jazz guitar something with a dark bassy sound, and a thin neck for playing chords i am on a budget so nothing over 300 i would say

also what should i look like when buying a jazz guitar?

Hollowbodies for the warmer cleans, probably a mahogany body (maybe there are special woods for the cause but as far as standard tonewood goes, mahogany's getting the point for your needs). Check out for them, copies of the older companies should be a starter, but copies are harder to pick since there are a minority of good ones vs. crappy ones. Also, try out guitars with different pickup styles, single coils, humbuckers, soapbars... There are plenty of them outside, you should also try any guitar that's playable, maybe you'll find yours outside the realm of 'classic stuff'.
