Just got jamming with a couple of dudes....

I was finally able to bring home my B-52 AT100 head tonight. The head is brand new, but I ended up buying a used B-52 straight cab AT100 type as well.

Man, when you're jamming with a drummer, a bassist, and a singer, the whole vibe of the amp changes. I still haven't figured out how to make the PreAmp Volumes, the Gains, and the Master volume to all play nice together. Too many variables. I'll dial it in soon I imagine.

Anyway, here are some pics. Clips soon, I think...

haha

Rofl @ GH controller in between guitars...

I've been thinking of getting one of these since it's almost impossible to get hold of a Deizel head without it costing half my leg and my left testicle.

I will I will! I gotta sleep too, though LOL! I was up til 4 in the morning playing with the controls.

I gotta dial in the right tune, then figure out how to record it so that the recording does it justice.

Yeah, right.

They still have those outstanding recievers and no one throw to them, right? And a line that is as strong as the Maginot?

I actually don't really pay attention to football, I'm just used to the Lions being below average.
I'm actually watching right now.

Looks like the Lion's season isn't off to a very good start

OK OK!

LOL! I didn't have time to throw down a bunch of clips yet, so I recorded a quick jam for you guys. Software drums, direct recorded bass. PC computer using Vista and Cubase.

Anyway, there are only 2 guitar tracks total. 1 rythym and 1 lead.

Rythym channel (GAIN 1 Channel) was recorded using the B52 AT100 with the following settings...
Gain at 6 1/2, preamp volume at 7, master volume at 3. Reverb at 5 and slight contour (scoop) at around 7 1/2. I'm not sure if this is the best way to achieve nice gain. Heavy on the preamp and slight on the master. I tried it the other way around and it lost its bite.

Lead channel (Gain 2 Channel) was recorded with pretty much the same settings except no contour and the mids around 6 or 7. Gain around 8, preamp around 8 and master at 3. I added a touch of delay through the software, but again, no eq or compression.

So, let me know what you think please. Any advice is welcomed.

Thanks and.....STUPID STUPID RAMS

Alright!!!

Chugga Chugga tomorrow night. I spent all day making space in my room for this beast (no, it WILL make its way out of the bedroom and see venues soon!)

Anyway, I've been experimenting with the settings, ohms, gains, etc., and MAN this thing is rocking. Let me just say (only once, I promise) that I've been playing for more than 20 years (on and off for the last 10), and for the first time in my life I found the tone I've been chasing! Granted, I haven't played a Soldano or a Mesa in 10 years (I'm sure those amps rock just like they did 10 years ago). I have owned my share of Marshall JCM800's, Lead Heads, Fender, Yamaha, Crate, etc., etc. , but this thing is unbelieveable! I haven't even thought of adding effects, eq's, or compressors yet and I'm in love.

Anyway, don't take my word for it. I'll post some pure rhythm madness tomorrow.

Chugga-F'ing-Chugga!

Here's a couple of minutes of some chugga chugga for ya on the B52 AT100

Used gain channel #1. Gain at 7, Preamp volume at 7, Master at 3. Bass at 6, Mids at 6, Trebble at 7. Low Resonance at 6. No reverb. Recorded by mic'ing the amp into cubase with no effects, no eq, and no editing. Any critique or advice would be cool.

Thanks again!
