Hey, I've just recently bought an old Ric 4001 and the electronics are all messed up. I could easily rewire it but the main problem is new strings after that as I'm broke. Does anyone think it would be possible to fix the wiring without taking the strings off?

Is the control cavity mounted in the back?

And you don't have to change the strings just because you removed them...

I've done a total rewire of an instrument without taking off the strings... when there was an issue of clearance space under them, I simply loosened them all to get the same effect.

I don't know if that would work with the Ric because I'm not familiar with them but it's something to keep in mind.

Alright. I figured I'd give it a shot and it worked pretty well. It's gonna be a bitch to get everything on again later.
