I hope im posting this in the right section, if not please just move it.

anyways, ive been getting into alot of modern crust..
SKITSYSTEM, tragedy, wolfbrigade, behind enemy lines, disfear, destroy, from ashes rise, M:40, totalt javla morker are my favorites

i cant find any good tabs for these bands too so,,

i was wondering what are the common techniques, scales, chords and progressions crustcore uses? i haven't been playing very long, only about a year and a half but i practice daily and have a good bit of theory knowledge from playing bass for 2 years and reading theory books all day in school.

any kind of help is greatly appreciated

Just hit the strings really hard and people will think you're a crust God.

Don't play the A5 chord and follow it up with a C5 chord. Totally uncrust.

Yeah, minor chords and keys are best for crust.

could you give me an example of how youd use minor chords with powerchords?

These are the crustiest chords there are. Learn them well.

e|-0---------|
B|-0---------|
G|-1---------|
D|-2----5----|
A|-2----5----|
E|-0----3----|

i'm going to this ghetto style since i don't have axeslash-ish tab pro, however i doubt my chords are as crusty as THAT.

E- A5 D7 G7 B6 E5 move that, although it's a 5th string (damn i need to learn proper guitar names) I have my first on the E so it is getting a little more bass.

then on the 6th

E4 A6 D6 G4 B4 E4 then maybe move that to E4 A4 D6 G6 B4 E4 and then to E5 A4 D4 G4 entonces E4 A7 D4
whatevs melo crust is way too ****ing easy to write. if thats not what your looking for then idk. and mang in time you should be able to play over a reggae song and mke it sound like a funeral!

Oh and i mostly do downstrokes.

its not lined up perfectly but its the jist. since most stuff is so heavy anyways moving one finger (as most of this is) can make a cool difference. just experiment a lot

and where do live (city wise)?

edit: Thank you sir.

EDIT again. oh my i spelt 'Jist' 'gist' whats wrong with my brain.

Reed, if you put [/CODE] (minus the bold) it will make it look neat and aligned.

grindcore and crust normally go hand in hand, seeing as grind is just basically more extreme crust in most cases. anyway, as far as crust progressions are concerned, just use powerchords in a minor key. dissonance is your friend. that's pretty much all i can tell you.

Well in short what i tabbed is pretty much the easiest guitar part known to man, you can have your first lying on the 4th the whole time and only fiddle with your 2nd 3rd 4th fingers

and even add D-6-7-6 after for a little more flavour

and zero, technical guitar will always prevail. and why? cause were getting into metal territory...

Lmfao. When my band is taking a break from practicing the singer goes to the drums and i move from bass to guitar. I play the same chords you guys listed and he does d-beat. Sounds so ****ing awesome yet we just laugh it off at the end and just continue playing songs sounding like nirvana......

ok ok. so it's been tempting me for so long now.

yeah.

IT.

the 7 string
with my 7th string (low... of course)

or does the punx forum think it a waste of moneyz seeing has i don't have the technical skills to work all 7 (in honesty i'd only use the lowest 5 evert song (and in a mannner to try and rip off stormcrow and hellshock to the max)
or should I just get a nice 6 and Downtune?

When it comes to 7 string guitars, I think Steve Jones said it best - only wankers play them.

I have indeed heard the only wankers play them quote. It's always the first thing that comes into my mind regarding 7 strings.

the neck isn't really a problem for me since I play 5 string bass

But you guys are probaly right about sticking with 6....

but so heavy.

so ****in' heavy.

I don´t care for 7 strings......I mean playing a 12 string is fun as hell, so if the NuMetal idiots want to play 7 string, so that they needn´t tune down, it´s rather intelligent. The first people who did that were inventors, nevermind if it was Linkin´ Park or any idiot from 1950

haha i just got rid of my seven string today, i felt like the 7th string get in the way, it sounded pretty shitty after getting past G# anyway so it seemed pretty pointless to me.

but anyway, about crust riffs could anybody help me out with that?
and some more chord examples would be cool, preferably for drop tuning

Although Sargasms list is a must you may wanna check dese more metalz crust bands also.

Stormcrow, sanctum, hellshock, effigy, EOM, age,

be warned those bands are more metal than most metal bands. (you'll understand.) Once you pick whether you like antischism or stormcrow better take it to the Other thread (Link already posted courtesy of sargasm) and i'll help you out more based on sub genres and your location.
