Is it as simple as pushing it on and soldering it to the back or do you have to uncrew the poles and put it on and crew the poles back in? Also do pickup covers affect tone?

Im getting a new pickup (jb or sh-5) and it would be cheaper to buy an uncovered one, and take the cover off my old pickup and pit it on the new one.

yes, Just push them on, then put them in a vice scuff up where you will solder them one on each side. I know Duncan's are all ready waxed potted so if you have them you don't have to re-pott them.

It will cancel a little feedback and give it a "warmer tone" but nothing noticeable to go "holy shit!"
