Ok, I just pulled the trigger on a V33 head, and am gonna get a Palomino cab to go with it.

For those of you who own this amp, what should I expect? Should I swap the tubes right off the bat? Any tonal things to look out for?

Those Crate amps are actually very decent for the price. Congrats!
As far as tube changes go, I'd wait to see what it comes with.
I always abuse my first set of stock tubes so you can at least get a "feel"
for the amp, and just not to waste them really.
A tube change to your fav. brand is never a bad thing though.
I think you'll really like that amp. A good overdrive will help it sing also.
I like my Fulltone OCD a lot.
Congrats again!

^Thanks very much.

I have a Digitech Screamin Blues for an OD, right now, and I really like the tone I get from it. It's a bit of a tone sucker, though.

That's why I just don't care for Digitech pedals. I've tried many and they've all eaten some tone to an extent, or at least messed with it enough that I noticed.
You're really going to enjoy that amp though. I would suggest a Bad Monkey, that's Digitech's best pedal short of that new line they just released (Hardwire series) and those pedals are MUCH better. It could push that amp into metal in case you ever get that itch.
