I called long and mcquade... it's like the only music store near me...
they said they had the Ibanez GRX20 in stock (I wanted this if the Ibanez GAX30 was out of stock, which it was) for $180

counting new strings, a tuner, and a gig bag/stand, that will cost about $80...

I have $100-$125 to spend left on an amp...
I looked at musicanfriend's and compared the popular amps. with the reviews here...
what amp. should I get?

line 6 spider III 15 - 15w
vox pathfinder 15R
(IF YOU HAVE BETTER AMPS. PLEASE SUGGEST. I would like a good amp...loud enough for gigs?)

they long and mcquade said they didn't carry any crate/roland amps.

What kind of music do you play, are looking to gig or just play at your house, do you have any effects, do you need/want any effects, etc

The usual questions, in other words.

If you're just messing about on guitar, a Spider would be a really good amp, it gives you a ton of effects to play with and things.

So yeah, maybe get one, if that's what you want.

wow...deja vu.
My first guitar was the GRX20, and it is awesome. I upgraded to an RG3 a few months ago, and i've played Gibsons, and I can still say that the GRX20 has TREMENDOUS value. I couldn't find another guitar with that kind of value. There's a pic in my profile, and i wil GLADLY take more if you want them.
My first amp was the Line 6 Spider III 15 too, and it is great for a starter amp. It's perfect for learning how to use an amp and all of the effects on it. I plan to upgrade my amp soon, probably a Peavy Valveking, as i need more wattage.

So if you want, i could play my GRX20 through my line 6, so you will know exactly what you're getting. Feel free to ask.

eh I would get the Microcube or Cube 15X, both by Roland. Line 6's are fun at first, but they just give a muddy distorted tone, and the effects aren't even that great.
