Never thought of doing this, but this is the first time I've come up with a set of lyrics I felt needed road testing. It's a song about a professional songwriter. I was worried it might come off a little vicious and judgmental.

Must have been a day, when I just wanted to play
And put my mouth where my music was
But I was naïve, I guess I couldn't conceive
I'd ever have keep the wolf from the door

And so he picks another chord from the wall
And he generates the tempo of your morning walk
And a suit is calling asking 'bout a lullaby
It's like I live on a production line

Songseller sleepin' alone on the backseat
Safe from the madding crowd
And the soul sister sings to the easy listener
For a love she's never known

No words for the tune, it gives her something to do
It's not like they listen anyway
These words are my own, from my heart that's a joke
Oh, isn't she a big girl now

And one by one I've given every one away
For a mention in the sleeve and just another month's pay
Every tear and smile and climax that I used to call mine
It makes me wonder what they'll play when I die

Songseller sleepin' alone on the backseat
Safe from the madding crowd
And the soul sister sings to the easy listener
For a love she's never known
Ever wonder what rock would have sounded like in 2010 if grunge hadn't made it cool to be stupid?
