I used the searchbar but nothing came up. I'm looking at guitars and am wondering what the difference is between woods. My AL-3000 is mahogany and heavy as all hell. My friends Strat knockoff is ash and light. What's the diffrence tonally and feel-wise? I know this is a noobish question but what the hell, i'm curious.

the better the wood, the better the tone.

your AL probably sounds better than his strat. plus you will have alot more sustain.

Not really... Better quality wood doesn't necessary contribute a 'better' tone, just different.
