Hello everyone! Tomorrow i'm dropping by the music store because I'm in need of some things, but i thought i should share it with you guys to get some helpful information first!

To start, i'm a singer/songwriter very much in the Jack johnson style, and basically, i'm going to look for two things.

As a note, i'm on a pretty strict 520$ budget.

I need something to record with, not a microphone, but maybe more like a console or mixer or whatever you call them. Something I can plug my guitar AND a microphone into, and i can kind of play with the settings for each track, so I can record both guitar and voice simultaneously, and hopefully with a decent sound. Any tips with that?

Secondly, I'm looking for a floor pedal that I can hook up my microphone and guitar into... A voice processor, i believe its called. You know, it detects the guitar chord, and your voice, and creates vocal harmonies (as if you had back vocals singing with you) and various other effects.

I dont know if I can afford both these things on such a budget, but any input will be HIGHLY appreciated!

Thank you!

Keep in mind there are a LOT of different audio interfaces, I just picked a cheaper one that will get the job done easily and with good quality. Go ask around in Riffs&Recordings for more info on those, or ask the people at the guitar store for a (minimum) 2 channel usb interface with good software and at least one xlr input, two if possible.

For a recorder check out the Tascam Dp-02/cf ($299). I have one and its pretty good and if you get one soon they might still have the ones with the free 1G Compact Flash Cards or get the Dp-02(the more expensive one $499) has a 40G hard drive and built in effects plus a Cd burner. These are 8 track recorders and can do exactly what you want and more.

Wow thanks, they look great! But if i get one of those I won't get any money left over for a voice harmonizer!

Thanks for sharing though, If i can manage to spill out a couple extra bucks, i'll check it out
