So i just found an adapter that plugs into the mic slot on my computer. So i plug my guitar in just to test it (no amp/effects) and i hit record it doesnt record....help!

I dunno but you'll need some sort of DI box or preamp to make the output high enough to be heard, unless your p'ups are active.

Don't you have to plug your guitar into your amp, then the amp to the computer?

Depends if your guitar has a preamp built in, which I'm sure most, if not all do.
