Hey guys. Dont know how much you guys know about computer hardware but there must be several who do know something!

I'm planning on putting together a new computer from scratch.

Here's the part that I'm thinking of buying so far...

Motherboard:
Asus P5Q, P45, Socket-775 bla bla bla...

CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600(2.4GHz)

Ram:
Corsair Dominator TWIN2X8500C5DF(4096MB)

GPU:
PowerColor Radeon HD 4870 "PCS" (1GB)

Ofcourse I'm buying a chassi and that to but these are the "main" parts...

What do you say? Suggestions?
Schecter C1 Classic
Fender Vintage -57 Ri Stratocaster
Fender Blues JR w/ 12"Cannabis Rex
Mad Professor Sky Blue OD
Wampler Ego Compressor

personally, i would suggest and AMD processor and motherboard.
(I have a certificate in Computer Hardware)
AMD is cheaper, and you get worth your money.

Solid State disks are fast but they are high in price...

For media I have had no letdowns from 7200RPM drives and if you get good quality ones with enough cache you should be fine.

Also run more HDs in a RAID config. for more speed.

I'm still saving up for a custom PC of my own for video editing work.
Most of the high end rigs I use now and not mine but owned by companies I work for.
