Ok, so I was going to jam to some For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica. I'm in standard tuning, yet when I play along with the song it sounds off. Have I gone completely insane. I've tried Eb and E standard to no avail. I don't get it. It's bugging me.

Guitars:
-Jackson DXMG (SH-2N, SH-6)
-Schecter Hellraiser C1 (18v)
-Ibanez XPT707FX (Blackouts)
-Ibanez BTB 400 Bass

Main Amp: Mesa DR Roadster

They were in standard tuning, but it's tuned up another quarter tone, so... yeah

The best thing to do is play with a live track (Like S&M) and just play in Eb

I got it. It's tuned to a higher pitch. I tuned it in E standard in A445 HZ and it sounds about perfect. Kinda strange. Its just like 10 cents higher

Its higher to in tune with that starting bell.

This

Ride the Lightning has some weird tuning stuff in other tracks too because they tuned to an old piano and it was a little off.

Why would you spend tens of thousands of dollars to learn about a language you already speak? It was over before it even started dude
