Does anyone else, but me see the rise of a new counter culture coming?

I've been starting to think, if McCain gets elected I think there's going to be a big counter-culture movement like there was in the 60s because almost everyone under the age of 30 is for Obama. This wouldn't be a bad thing actually, it would be good, because that would mean that crappy Jonas Brothers music and Miley Cyrus would be undermined by all the great protest bands. Anyone else feel like this will happen?

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Plus Miley Cyrus rocks.

Lol. Yeah hippies were all about expressing their originality, that's why they all dressed alike, and thought alike, and did the same things. Great show of individualism.

I'd lol at them. Obama is just as bad, if not worse, than McCain. At least McCain pretends to look okay.

Well there's Bush now and the only counter culture there is is people complaining on the Internet.

...modes and scales are still useless.

the 60's had just as much crappy music as today. if a counter-culture movement was ever going to happen, it would have happened when bush got re-elected. the fact is, iraq isn't nearly as bad as vietnam was.
#13
the counter culture of obama and liberals in general is now becoming the standard culture. i, personally, think obama is gonna get elected and it'll make a republican hippy movement.

Please, like that type of individual that would cause a band like that would ever come in todays world? There is no more fight, we've succumbed to the everyday, we go to school, we go to college, we work, we re-spawn, we die. Total mind-f**k if someone went against the system.

This. Don't like either to be completely honest. I think they're both full of shit. McCain just has less. Paul '08.

Yeah, everyone would be WAY individual by ALL being for Obama and ALL protesting. No way that many people would be free thinkers...

I can't believe anyone is actually gonna vote for McCain. I mean look at how bad his choices have been so far, Phil Graham who said America is "a bunch of whiners" and Palin who wants to teach creationism in schools. He made Phil Graham resign so what does that say about his choices, when you pass a law you can't just end it.

But I don't want to turn this into a political thread. I think it will happen. I know that everyone here says that if Obama doesn't win they're moving to Canada. And I'm really considering it. America has become a sick, small minded country. I feel bad for saying this, but I hate my country in the state that it's in and want out.

Although McCain blows dick, he pwns the crap out of Obama. I'd rather not live in a communist country.

i just don't see how you could elect a man (obama) who refuses to pledge allegience to the flag of the country he would thereafter be leading

When you say that she intends to teach creationism in schools, it's not nearly to the degree that most people think of it. She doesn't want teachers to read Genesis to their students and tell them that it is a fact, she just puts it out there as another theory. While I don't agree with it, it's much less severe than some people might think.

In the presidential elections, you simply have to choose the lesser of two evils. It happens to be McCain. Don't like the guy, but I just like Obama less. In my personal opinion, and I know many people will disagree with me, the less government power, the better. It should exist to enforce contracts that are agreed upon, protect the citizens, and ensure that no one infringes on another person's rights. No more, no less.

On topic though. I think a new cultural uprising isn't out of the question.

pledging allegiance to a piece of cloth is silly. a country is not its flag. one should not have to pledge allegience to his country. that's what democracy is all about.

Bah, they're the same.

Higher taxes for the wealthy is BS though. So is his health care plan. Epic fail.

Also, I'm not saying that this is a reflection of his views, but I'm not saying it isn't either. In his campaign offices, they have Cuban flags and pics of Hugo Chavez hanging up.

This makes me want to vote for him even more haha. I was originally for Kucinich (ultra-left wing candidate) but he dropped out.

And also about pledging to the flag, it's so stupid. I hate blind patriotism. Why should you be proud of your country just because you live there. He obviously isn't proud of it and that's why he wants change. That's what I wish I could see, people who would think before they put their had over their heart for the pledge.
