I don't really know if this has been discussed before, but i was wondering which band has the fastest tempo? You know, like Nile plays really fast. But which band is FASTEST? There might be personal opinions, but it would be great if Facts are given...

TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED!!! sed in total guitar average tempo on their album was lik 210, n the drummer is insane

After seeing Behemoth play Christians To The Lions at double speed in a performance, I'll have to say that they are the fastest live players I've ever seen.
Dyer's Eve is awesome, and has an abnormally large penis, which doesn't act as any hinderance to his everyday life despite its freakishly large size.

210!! that's f***in insane man!!!

Master of Puppets is 220....

Probably some tech death band like Anomolous (sp?) or Braindrill...
The Berzerker is obvious since the drummer does gravity blasts at like 400bpm+

Origin perhaps

Or The Berzerker..

as in overall tempo, not just a fast solo or a riff

That was my first thought.

They're consistently fast, and very, very rarely slow down at all.

Especially John Longstreth.

When will people learn that fast =/= heavy...

Have you ever seen an interview with a metal band about a new album where they don't say 'It's faster and havier', it pisses me off so much, that they think saying that will help them sell records, when in fact, I'd rather buy a record the artist themselves calls more exerimental or progressive.

But yeah, they are different things altogether, but naturaly you could have a really heavy really fast riff.

Fastest drums beat I've ever heard is Vengance rising by Keep Of Kalessin, that's just insane, the drummer of my band told me to **** off when I suggested playing it haha

There is a difference between playing 64ths at 400bpm and whole notes at 400bpm. Bpm doesn't necessarily measure the speed of the song.

well duh

But when a high bpm number is mentioned, it's probably safe to assume that they at least play 8th notes

Yeah, I don't think anyone is trying to make the fastest bands sound like the bestest ones, s'all just for fun.

Yeah, but when you're talking about gravity blasts...
You're talking about single handed rolls
ie: 16th notes

Ugh, yeah.

I hate it when pretty much every single metal (or especially metalcore) band just gives the generic response of...

"Yeah man. It's, like, definitely going to be heavier then ever. It's just so much heavier. And faster. Just so aggressive and brutal, man."

And then it's usually exactly the same. Not that those things would have necessarily made it any better, regardless.
#26
Eeerr, I'd say Brain Drill, Hate Eternal, or Decapitated. Not metal, but you should check out Shawn Lane if you want fast. You've probably heard of him a few times, I think he was like, the fastest guitarist ever or something.

0-0-0-13-0-0-0-0-13 or something like that alalalala but It;s so heavy and off time and awesome and you could not f**k anyone to it.

Absolutely!
I personally do not agree with the notion that fast means heavy!
