Hi first post,
im new to all this amp stuff so dont go too hard on me

ive been looking at what amp to get and i cant decide what to get. ive pretty much narrowed it down to 4 choices. i play mainly metallica plus led zep, acdc & some other modern stuff like wolfmother and foo fighters. which one do you think i should get? Also, should i get a half stack or combo? do half stacks sound better?
my budget is preferrably under or around $1000 AUD. Also, if i get the blackheart ill need a pedal for metal tones. Whats a good pedal for metallica with that amp?

Bugera 333Xl Combo

I reccomend the bugera out of those 3 for what you want to play, but i think the blackheart would get you a more natural sounding overdrive than the Bugera.

Im sure others will be of much more help

i am getting my randall RX120DH for $900 AUD
might not be a value amp but it will be good enough for the time been as it comes in a stack
so for future gear needs i can just go buy a value head when i get enough money
i highly recommend this amp

Ignore, only the guy from Pantera used solids for metal and everyone knows his tone sucked balls.

The valveking should do light metal tones, but investing in an OD will kick it into heavier tones

yer i wasnt going to consider that cos i checked and it was SS. ive already got an SS and i dont want another one.

i prefer not to get a pedal and just let the amp do everything.
and how light do you mean? not like metallica?
im looking for a tone similair to that like and justice for all plus a good hard rock tone
#8
that sounds pretty good
im also not going to get it just yet but in a while but just looking to make sure i know what i want

I've got the Blackheart (;
I like it alot.

But you'll need a pedal for Metal.

The sound Im currently playing with is very similar to AC/DC.

Believe it or not (;

I am going to buy a Bad Monkey OD Pedal.

Hope it sounds good.
Cant test them at my local music store );

What sort of tone will that give it?
Also which one do you have? The stack, combo or head with a different cab?
Do you know which one sounds the best?
#14
I've got the Combo version.

Never heard the Half Stack version.

I actually dont really know what sound I'll get xD

Sounds good.

I would get the Blackheart with 15 Watts (;

It has a nice tone and its definitively loud enough.

My 5 Watt Blackheart is also pretty loud if you crank it up. And the sound doesnt get muddy.
#17
i looked at that too but i cant find any blackheart dealers in melb apart from billy hyde but they only sell the 5 watters. would i need a pedal with the 15 watter?
#18
I think so (;

Its only warmer and louder not more metal (;
#19
ahh well in that case id just go the 5w cos it just for bedroom practice and save some money for something else
#20
Sounds cool (;

This amp and a good pedal = all you need for bedroom practice (;
#21
One more question - would the bugera be too loud for bedroom practice? Like to get a good tone do you need to turn up but will that be too loud? Do tubes kick in early or late?
#23
ok no problem
but do you know if 120 watters are too loud at all for bedroom practice, like if 1 is really loud?
#26
Yeah, I guess so (;

I've tried the Blackheart.
And now I own it (;

Never played anything else.
