The members were from several New York bands (Youth of Today, Judge, Gorilla Biscuits, Side By Side, Rival Schools). Project X was exactly what the name would have you think; a project band with straight edge as the main focus. I guess a couple of the guys from the band had a fanzine and they wanted to promote it by giving out some music, so they got their friends together and recorded a few minutes worth and included that 7" with their zine (schism). Since all these guys were busy with other bands, a project band wasn't exactly a top priority, hence the general lack of material. I like the record though, even at just under seven minutes, it's still a defining youth crew album.
