My current gear is.

Ibanez RG2EX1
Gibson Les Paul Studio

Roland Microcube.
Vox AC15CC1

I'm looking for a distortion pedal to run through my vox for when I want to play metal.

I want a distortion pedal that will not sound real fake and has a nice tone to it.

I would run it through the Vox clean which is real nice.

My budget is 150.

I was thinking that a Metal Muff would be perfect.

You're thinking correctly about the Metal Muff. That amp doesnt seem like the kind of amp a metalhead would use.

Well sometimes I get the urge to play some Avenged Sevenfold or Metallica
and I play through the cube.
But I want it to sound nicer than that so I'll get the metal muff and run it through the vox.

Very good choice.
