I'm trying to tab out a song that I made, and i just can't get it to sound the same. There's this part where it goes from a C chord to hitting the open B string, and it's either too long of a note, or too short, what do I do.

What you're looking for is a dotted quarter note. A dot after the note adds half of that note's value, so if you do it with a quarter note your new note is the length of a quarter note plus an eighth note. Additional dots add half of the previous dot, but you usually don't use more than one, and almost never more than two.
