I have this Yamaha Mx12/4 borrowed, and i have a cable that looks like this:

and a microphone with its cable...and still, i cannot record to my computer!
What am i doing wrong??, i have the microphone plugged and it gets the signal, i connect the cable thing to the Rec Out and the i plug it to the computer.
And the computer gets no signal...what am i doing wrong and how do i fix it?

well think of it like this

input of guitar is fine > desk (desk lights fine) > computer (not fine)

so u dont need to tinker with the desk
u just have to switch on something
i bet it something really small as well like u notice it and then ur like aww gay lol

u can try download a program (free) called Asio4all and this might assist this problem

why did you buy a mixer to record?

See my UG Recording video #1 which explains using mixers for recording..........

Anyways I highly suggest selling the mixer and getting an interface however you can spend $100 and get an m-audio 2496 PCI card and run the mixer to that however you are still mixing down...

Yep, it has mute and volume....(the cable)
