One of my friends is making a V bass out of fiberglass!

It's awesome, he showed me a pic of it. It wasn't complete, but it still looked amazing! He is very good at making guitars!

After that he's making an X-Plorer bass, out of fiberglass also, but hes going to put tremolo springs in it for a whammy bar!

If I manage to get any pics of either of the guitars, I'll put them on here.

Just thought it would be something cool to talk about. But if you don't care, then whatever. Shut up and look away.

fiberglass? is that even tonally beneficial?

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

Well if plexiglass works then why not?
Studies have shown that 92% of guitar players are close-minded. Copy this into your signature if you're part of the 8% who enjoy rap.

From the title I thought it was something about a bass build using a BADASS brand bridge...

I'm also curious as to whether or not it will sound like crap.
#6
I'm still stuck on why he'd rather build it with something that leaves painful dust and tends to look crappy instead of pretty, easy, harmless wood.

I know that soundwaves travel more readily through water than through air.

Your friend should make a bass out of water. Then I'd be impressed.

It just sounds like a bad bass in the making to me. But I've been wrong before...

I guess it won't be affected by climate, lol.

The only guitars I have ever heard being made of fiberglass are tricones or resonator guitars, as an alternative to metal. They're collectors items because they are rare, not because they sonically sound great btw.
