The Vintage Modern cabs are good and far better than the 1960A/B cabinets (imo). The speakers are actually custom 25 watt greenbacks, not g12h30s. They sound great though if you're into the whole Van Halen thing. The 1960A uses g12t-75s which are probably better suited for metal if thats what you're into. The Greenbacks or g12h30s are much more classic rock speakers.

But honestly, if you're into the whole g12h30 sound (which I prefer), you may want to look into this one:

The speakers in this are the heritage series g12h30 (55hz pre-Rola bass cone spec). And its only $200 more. But handwired cabinet (not a big deal, anyone with a set of hands and a soldering iron can handwire a cabinet), birch ply construction. Great cab overall.

Take this from someone who owns a Marshall cab: Any new Marshall cab is a waste of money, there's so much better for the price.

That being said, a good used Marshall cab is a great buy if you can get them cheap enough.

Either way though, the Greenbacks would sound awesome with the Quickrod I'd think. I really want to try them with my Nitro, but no one stocks any cabs with them around here G12T-75s sound surprisingly good with my Nitro though, I quite enjoy them. The Eminence Texas Heats are also pretty sweet with them. I use both, each has a very different sound, mixed they sound awesome and fill in what the other is missing.

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

The HW cab is a good cab though, whether overpriced or not. Though for that price you could probably get a Mojotone cabinet and a quad of Scumback H55s or H75s, but requires more effort.

25 watt Greenbacks tend to get flubby in the bass. Just things I've noticed.

I like the vintage.

Dave had a sale on a "blem" vintage cabinet, $380 for a 4x12 w/ standard Celestion reissues, really a steal, I was about to buy it a few months ago but passed. It's been sold though.

If you have the funds, it maybe in your best interest to go with with the heritage series Celestions. What kind of amp are you using with the cab?
