Hey guys, im lookin to break outta the main stream. Everyone and there grandma plays Ibanez and ESP, and Gibson, and im lookin for a guitar that has a thin neck profile. something like the neck of an Ibanez RG series, or a Jackson, but i want a guitar not everyone has. Like i said, "Break away from the mainstream" And just not a thin neck, but i want something that is also good quality. ive played Cort guitars, and theyre fit the description pretty well, but ive heard they break down pretty quick...

So hopefully someoen can find what im lookin for. Thanks in advance guys

Steinberger is definitely something not many people have. It's certainly not for everyone, though.

Well, maybe make your own guitar, that would be cool. And shape it like a giant fireplace, very origianal.

No one has that.

But seriously, if you're looking for something that has all the things, maybe you have to go 'mainstream' and use of of them. Or go custom. Or something like that.

Hagstrom, Agile and Tom Anderson are quite high on my list.

just find a great sounding / great playing guitar and forget what it looks like.
#16
I have a godin, very good axe (specially for the price)
but I agree in forgetting about "mainstream", in a gig the last thing people would notice is your ibanez headstock (they wouldnt even know what ibanez is)
#17
i use a cort and have done for the last 2 1/2 years and so far no problemos wth it

Try with washburn,hamer,gretsch,tom anderson, BLADE(!!!!!!!!!),charvel,vester,carvin,mj guitars,CAPARISON (!!!!!!!!!!!),De fraia,kramer

http://www.kyowashokai.co.jp/caparison-eng/e-top.html take a look

Caparison are a bit rare indeed, although the neck will not be Ibby thin, but look into them they seem to be quite good in terms of sound and playability

[quote="'']Blackmachien seem to fit the description. I don't think there priced too steep either

Please tell me you're not serious...they're very highly priced and, more to the point, you'll still be waiting for one at the other end of 2010 anyway.

I'm assumeing you've had a quite off them so you'll know alot more than me about them

I know enough; they're not taking any more orders until at least 2010 and those will be gone quick and the one on their front page cost upward of £2500 ($5000).

Design / Make your own guitar, take the best from a bunch of guitars that you like.

for example, this is what I may be doing soon.

Mustang body
Jag-Stang Neck / Fretboard (maple neck, rosewood fretboard)
TOM Bridge
2 humbuckers (dunno which 2 yet..)
3 way gibson style switch
4 tone / volume thingys

in a green burst color

and all the other things I forgot would probably be a mix of Les Pauls, and Jags / Mustangs :P

no one will have this guitar when I save up the cash and design it

but if you don't design / make your own, I'm pretty sure you'll either end up with a crappier version of a Les Paul / Strat / Tele / Jag / SG / Flying V (probably the most immitated guitars), and you won't be as happy with it as you would with one of the "main-stream" guitars.

You can also just buy a guitar that you like alot, and modify the **** out of it, it'll probably still look like every other guitar that it's the same model of, but it'll sound much different (better?), and maybe even feel different (better?)

To be fair, a high end, non warlock, mockingbird, bich or beast BC Rich would be right up his alley.
The new gunslingers would be great. And any 80s ones, the Ironbirds would seem original as the shape isn't often seen and they don't use that hideous 3x3 pointy headstock.
But as for Dean, no. Just no.

Well, since carvin, hagstrom, and agile were mentioned quite a bit, i think ill look into one of them.

And to the person who said hes owned a Cort: no problems or anything? I heard there quality kinda wears. So it still has good tone, holds up in gigs, etc? Because Cort is another one im kinda lookin into.

oh, and im sorry, but BC and Deans are ugly IMO, lol.

Caparison ftw! they're a bit pricey, but you will be the bees knees if you actually get one

What's up with all this "I can't be part of the mainstream! I have to be different!" crap? Look, the brands you mentioned before are great brands with great credentials. Do you really truely feel like you need to be like the "one guy with liberty spikes at church"? To be different and not a fly on the wall?

Good B.C. Rich's look bad ass, feel and sound pretty good as well. That widow headstock always turns heads whenever I see somebody with one.
#34
why do you want a non mainstream guitar? So you can go "I HAS A GUITAR MOST PEOPLE DONT HAVE. IM KOOL!" right?

just get a bloody good guitar, there are plenty good quality guitars and good looking guitars out there, the company doesnt matter, its just the oppisite idea from getting gibson because of its name, getting a caparison because its rare... stop caring how rare it is or whatever, each guitar, even if its factory made, becomes unique, with age.
#35
Dot on Shaft guitars makes some really good interesting stuff. TS honestly if you really want a different guitar thats less mainstream why dont you stay away with the main stream body shapes strat, LP, SG, Tele etc. No ones gunna see who made your guitar but they will see the body shape. But again the most important part is to find a guitar that feels best to you no matter who makes it.

To the people who are complaining about me wanting a non mainstream guitar:

You Fail

The brands i named are in fact great brands, i won one of each. But the thing, is everyone plays them, then theres no individuality. THATS why i want a non mainstream guitar.

To everyone else, thank you for the suggestions. The Caparison are very nice, but like said, pricey, lol.

And im still waiting for the person who said he owned a cort. I wanna see how well there qualtiy is after owning them for awhile. Or i could read some reviews. But then again, people did that for the Line 6 Spiders, and look how that turned out

EDIT: Dot-on-Shaft has some really nice stuff. Im lookin at the Ba-Dasse S2 Cherry Red with the vine

DOUBLE EDIT: Uhmm... anyone have any specs for this?

Thanks. Again, lol
