Hi guys I'm a rythm guitarist and I'm looking to start playing in the pub scene. What songs would work well with just an accoustic guitar and male vocals?

I have a few songs that I play pretty well, including Californication - chilly peppers, high and dry - Radio head?, Creep - also radio head? and a bunch others.

If you have any sugestions as to what songs I could use please post them here.

They credited us with the birth of that sort of heavy metal thing. Well, if that's the case, there should be an immediate abortion.

If you're doing covers I reckon do some popular stuff like Goo Goo Dolls, James Blunt, Nirvana or Pearl Jam. Chillies are a good idea.

you should call one of the songs, "Respecting Old People" just to mix things up.

Whiskey In The Jar.

Slow it down a bit, add some soul.

Nothing Special - illScarlett
Mother - Pink Floyd
If you had the right equipment and felt like doing different voices, you could try Kickapoo by Tenacious D.

Late Goodbye by Poets Of The Fall

Don't know where you're from, but in my town the people at the pubs really love old Aussie rock, like Cold Chisel, AC/DC, Rose Tattoo... Not that I expect you to play AC/DC and Rose Tattoo on acoustic..

comfortably numb - pink floyd
turn the page - metallica
violent femmes songs (aussie)
wish you were here - pink floyd
bob dylan/gunners - knockin on heavens door

...

Jethro Tull - Only Solitare + Mother Goose. both great song, though kinda hard to sing and play at the same time.

Sweet Home Alabama would be well accepted, i believe.
Pretty much any nirvana song.

Pearl Jam - Black would be AWESOME.
R.E.M - losing my religion
Simon and Gafunkel - The Sound Of Silence + Mrs. Robinson

A lot of Nirvana songs
Machines by Biffy Clyro
My Hero or Everlong by Foos
Cancer by My Chemical Romance (may not go over so well in a pub, but at the right gig it's really good)
Every You, Every Me by Placebo

Try to work some Tenacious D into your set as well.
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.

Confused? Good.
