ok so i already know what kind of amp i want
i just dont know witch one to get

the crate V18-212
or
the crate V50-112

i play alot of clean rythym type stuff, classic rock, punk and modern hardcore

and im mostly gonna be using it to practice and jam with my band at house shows and small gigs...... and maybe every once and a while an outdoor show

so do you guys think the lower watt 212 will be better for me
or should i get the higher watt 112?

The lower watt. The 50 would just be too loud and too heavy, the 18w with two 12" speakers will be plenty loud.

And you can always mic up an amp anyways.

Go with the V18-212. You'll have plenty of volume from that.

When you say "modern hardcore" are you talking about metal or punk? Because if you want to play metal, that amp really isn't voiced for it.

But to answer your question, the V18 is probably the better of the two, though you might need to have it pretty loud on the volume knob for practices, so the V50 might be the better choice to save power tube life.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

I'm curious about what you mean hardcore - the benefit I can see in the 50w is that you say you'll be playing clean rhythm, and depending on how loud your band is you might need more headroom than the 18w can provide, it comes down to the playing situation though.

to clear it up when i say "modern hardcore"

i mean bands like:
Cold world,
converge,
black listed,
trash talk.

that kinda stuff,

in no way related to metal
