Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

Handmade brass and alloy single string bridges are being prototyped on the three current Multiscale (tm) builds.

EIGHT strings? Too much... intruding on bass territory there. Too much!

Still an amazing build, though. Can't wait to see it finished!

I'm interested in seeing the body on this one as well.

But Ormsby, what's that medieval torture device in the background with a thousand nails sticking out of it. It looks like a slipknot mask.

What the block of wood holding the frets? lol...

That would explain the absence of sharp metal things in one picture and frets on the fingerboard.

Thats how it looks, its a spin out. If you look at that piece upside down, it looks like a picture of a lake, with a hill in the distance.

Its a slightly larger version of the standard Multiscale shape, to accomodate for the extra weight of an eight string.

Another ormsby build!
in the second picture is that another multiscale fretboard? Or is it the 6 string one you've just finished?

Taking the easy way out and running an EMG-808. My new Multiscale pickup design isnt ready for public release yet, otherwise i'd use that.

is your multiscale pickup design anything close to what ended up on Saxon's multiscale? those things sounded absolutely wicked in every position

No, they are just longer versions (longer to match the string spacing when angled) of my standard pickups.

The new design wont be seen for a while, and will have a guitar build specially for it.

I've been wondering... what exactly does multiscale mean/do?

It means you have a longer scale length for the lowest string, which means you get more tension in the strings and so less mud, and better sounding and playing strings all together

and a shorter scale length for the highest string, lower tension (so you dont snap the strings every 5 seconds if you used the same scale length as the lowest string) and its also easier to play on light strings at lower tension, and so easier to solo etc.

and then all the strings inbetween range from the longest to shortest scale length.
