I'm really not a fan of Ibanez but either of those two Ibanezes or the Jackson will get the job done for you.

If you can you should really try them all out and make your own decision... we could argue all day about which is better based on our own personal preference but you won't know which is best for you unless you try them out.

Also look at some ESP/LTDs - they are equally as good as the Jackson and Ibanezes.

I was also looking at the ESP LTD MH-400..but I can't decide which to choose.

The Dk2 or the Ibanez S.

Personally I would go with the jackson because of how they feel, but the Ibanez may be more comfortable for you.

I agree with the guy above me, but if you want some advice I'd suggest the Jackson. However, I'd also recommend you try a Schecter C1 at the same time.

If all you had to go on was the forum you'd think a Decimator could cure noise caused by dodgey stage lighting and restock the ocean's population of sperm whales

I chose the S470 because the trem is superior to all the others.

One thing about the S470 is that it only has 22 frets, if you need the extra two, I'd go for something else.

The Strat is also a good choice, but the stock pickups will need to be changed out if you want metal tones.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

How would the Ibanez play compared to the Jackson?

What about a used USA Jackson? You can have on easily in that price range, assuming $1200 is your max.

If I bumped my budget to $700 what options would become available? I've seen some Ibanez RG3120 Prestige go on ebay BIN for $700, along with the Michael Kelly Hex NV, RG1570, S620EXQM, SL3 Soloist, etc...
