okay, well its not from scratch, but im ordering and buying everything. Yes, I know I made that topic about the LP I wanted, but after really falling in love with strats, I figured I should make one to save myself $150 or so instead of just buying a new one.

Okay, so lets get down to the point. I'm obviously ordering EVERYTHING, body, pick-ups, knobs, bridge, pickguard, neck, etc. Now, it'll save me $150, and the pick-ups would already be the ones I want. So I guess what I need to know, is your opinion on the idea, and any pointers or tips you could give me.

Also, I mainly wanted to have my own paintjob for it.

So yeah....

I'm also in the process of building a strat, the exact same way you are.
What colour were you thinking for the paintjob? If it's a soild colour, get the hardware to complement it. (Mine is a sapphire blue in gold hardware).

If it's some super crazy design you're doing yourself:
1) Make sure you know how to finish the body properly
2) Hardware is up to you.

Sites you can use
http://www.stewmac.com basically everything you'd ever need, from fininshing to hardware to tools, but you'll pay for it.
http://www.guitarpartscentral.com/ good quality, lower prices than most
http://store.guitarfetish.com/ like above, I can testify the quality of hardware, but I haven't tried their tuners, pickups, bodies or necks, buy those at your own risk
http://www.pickersparts.com/khxc/index.php one of the best places for building and repairing Strats, they're wonderful (Where I bought my neck).

I got the body off eBay, but you can find virtually the same ones at PickersParts

Good luck, I wanna see pics when you're done

Actually, I was gonna get most of the parts (Body and neck, i have other places for the other parts on another site) off of stratosphere on ebay.

Anyways, thanks for the info Led, helps alot :].

The paintjob was going to be swirls, maybe purples and blues, as those are my favorite colors, but i also saw an ibanez swirled in black white and grey, and it looked awesome, so I guess it all depends.

I'll make sure I post the pictures :]

That, would be amazing.

Just remember, eBay always plays up their stuff to make it seem a lot better than it is (I had to do A LOT of redrilling on that Strat body, let me tell you), so just make sure you check out everything you're buying

Eh I have, I'm getting a job soon, so I'll be able to afford everything. Maybe I'll eventually trick out my ibanez or something.

Current project will be this strat first though. :]
