I 'm getting a new guitar that has Passive Pups and I had so Active ones laying around but the wont work so aside from converting the guitar which still maybe a choice though I'm not sure how.. I'm sure a shop would know.

Anyway what are the best Passive pickups for Metal?
my actives where Blackouts
any advice on something close to those would rock

If you want the same sort of tone, go Dimarzio d-activators...
But it isn't hard to find space for a battery pack in most guitars.

There are plenty of powerful ones.
Uhm, I reckon you'd be better off with your Blackouts you already have.
In the control cavity it already has you should be able to fit a battery in there.

oh you think they would fit thats a great idea.

do you know if Guitar center can do this for me?
its the only music place around me

Dimarzio d-activators are these or Dimarzio d-activators x these better for low end deep strong bass on the low E and real loud crunch punchy sound
#10
you can put the batteries in the control cavity. i would say there is no best pickup. it's all preference. i would choose Duncan Custom for metal and Dimarzio Drop Sonic.
Ibanez RG321MH (Air Classic/Tone Zone)
Fernandes Telecaster (Twang King/stock bridge pickup)
Blackstar HT-20 (Scumback 55 speaker/ Tung Sol tubes)
TC Electronic Nova Repeater
Lava Cables Clear Connect, Soar and Mini ELC

Dimarzio makes good metal passives as you can see.... lol

If you look around i'd look for something with a ceramic magnet with high output...
As far as im concerned thats the best for metal..
#12
BnB FTW. Get some L500XL's one in the bridge and a L500L in the neck, thats pure ownage. And plus you could prolly get 2 of those shipped for the same price as 1 Dimarizio...

Plus Dimebag used em..

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
#14
hmm not sure what a BnB is but I will look it up
you all sure having a battery in with all the wires wont do anything wrong?
#15
Bill and Becky Lawrence,

Goto billlawrence.com I think thats it... Not the USA one, Get the originals, plus there awesome, and really cheap compared to traditional brands like Seymour Duncan and Dimarizio's
#17
Price is not rally a problem 400-500 dollars should cover most pups
#18
I wired a DiMarzio X2n in the bridge and a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the neck of my guitar, really did wonders for tightening up the bass, and the attack is amazing. The highs are powerful without being shrill, and the X2n coil splits amazingly well.

metal, and passive?

deff rockfield fatass.

more output =/= better metal tone. EVHs pickup has minimal output, yet he has one of the best tones in heavy metal. don't use a high output passive pickups with high gain, it just muddies things up. go low to medium output.
