i noticed on the beefy slinkies the g string was 22p
what does the p stand for?
ive seen ones in other packs that say w, and i just presumed that was wound, but i have no idea for p

22 plain. as in, like a treble string. on some acoustic sets, they are wound. hope that helps.

You may be right in some cases, but I think in this case it does actually mean plain. I know on my Ernie Ball strings, the P is a plain. And a W would be a wound string.

yeah you're right. i guess they use p for phosphor on the package.

but it looks like p next to the # should be for plain. which seems odd to me, seeing as how if it's not W it's going to be P.

I had to read it twice but yeah I get what you mean lol. I think even weirder is some sets that have a .26p, there isn't a matching set with a wound version .

well, some gauges don't come in Wound. and some dont come in plain, but they just post it on the packaage to make sure people know what they're getting.
