I've done quite a bit of searching, but I just don't feel confident with the results I've come up with. Here what I need help with... I want to start recording, but I'm a total newb, I know absolutely nothing about it. Now, Im not looking at anything serious and I'm not looking for perfection, I'm just looking to get my ideas on my computer, and I have a very limited budget... 200 max. I have a macbook and I will be using garageband and I was looking at ordering the mxl 990/991 microphones and the audiobuddy preamp package http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/MAudio-MXL-990991-and-Audio-Buddy-Package?sku=703626 . From what I've searched on here, for what I will be using this for, it seems to be an okay deal. My question is this, what else do I need to get started? Do I need a audio interface? what cables do I need? Like I said I'm a total newb and could really use the advice.

thanks a lot.

just buy a nice interface and a mic,
the pre-amp wont do much good if your gonna be plugging it into your computers soundcard.
