you could make any guitar metal as long as it has some EMG's in it.

It's nu-metal, if you want to be pedantic about it. They're metal, though. It's just that most metalheads don't want to admit that nu-metal is a subgenre of metal.

Seriously though, the Slipknot guitarist is the only one i can think of and hes been mentioned about 1000 times...

Chris Cornell from Soundgarden used one. They can be counted as Black Sabbath style metal. Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains also used one, although his were usually G&L.
