im having a hard time finding fun and nice metal/metalcore riffs in drop d or E standard,
I can play Like light to flies( except solo) , laid to rest , unholy confessions and the hell song from beginning to end
So i nothing to hard:P
and im not so good at alternative picking so i play all the above songs with downpicking only
and only been playing for about 6 months btw
so can you recommend any nice songs?

Dying In Your Arms - Trivium
Pull Harder On The Strings of Your Martyr- Trivium (GREAT for alternate picking work)
Beast and The Harlot - Avenged Sevenfold (That too)
Disappear - Bullet For My Valentine

All in Drop D.

yeah pretty much all of the Ascendancy album will help (also learn tho solos they seem hard but once you sit down and try you will be amazed)

i also reccomend Right Side of The Bed by Atreyu, its in drop c but ypou can play it in drop and it still sounds cool.

Entrance of the Conflagration (solo) - Trivium.
It has some alternate-picking and sweeping. I learnt the solo yesterday - sounds really cool when played at the proper tempo.

afterlife, that's such a sick song. Especially the solo you should try to learn it.
