Presumably, a band saw, a router and a soldering iron, and a lathe for the neck, but what else would I really need to build a guitar?

Rasps definitely. Perhaps a spokeshave? Screwdrivers are important during assembly. Needed for stap buttons, some bridges, pickups, some tuners. Sockets are useful aswell for tuner bushings and nuts on pots.

Well guitars have been around long befrore electricty has been utilised, so you can pretty much do away with any power tool and still build a guitar (although it becomes much harder)

A router can be replaced my chisels, a bandsaw can be replaced by a handsaw etc

but to staying with the times

a cutting device (bandsaws and table saws being best) clamps are pretty essential for gluing, some kind of drill press, sandpaper, some kind of shaping tool, rasp, file, beltsander etc, a fretting device (hammer being the simplest) and a router.
