nope. if you're just talking about the body and not the hardware or electronics, they're simply cosmetic. I enjoy a good worn bass.

TL;DR: Saw a girl at Wal-Mart, she started feeling me up, I jizzed in my pants.

Shit, I'm so pathetic.

[quote="'[BurnTheDusk"]']I agree, tone does sound better the closer your genitals are to the ground.

Crabcore?

No--and each one tells a good story in the end. Besides, when you become famous some poor sod in build shop of Fender will spend endless hours "relic-ing" your signature bass to look just like it.

no. sometimes I wish the finish on my Ibanez wore off easier. I just get these tiny scrapes, no big bare spots...

oh well.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

Different finishes = different wear

Poly tend to chip but can take a lot of abuse from rubbing.
Nitro tents to wear away.

Most new basses are poly coated and so will chip, older basses are nitro and so will give a worn look.

I wish my bass had the same finish as on the HWY 1s

I think you need to stop caring what people think about it. I stayed home all day today and masturbated like 5 times. Fucking blast.

I'd say it depends where. If it's just the finish, no biggy.
If it's on the pickup and it's a frikken hole, the I'd worry .

Yup, my Highway One Jazz is looking pretty decent right now. I haven't had it for that long though.
