Got my first drum set yesterday.
I got it all set up pretty much, except for the bass drum.

Here's my question
So I got the EQ Pad (or pillow)

Now my the front end of my bass drum does not have a hole or opening
So I gotta take off the head right?
Now if I take it off, can I use the same one and put it back on
or will that one just go to sh*t and I'll have to buy another one?

Thanks :]

Yeh, take off the head and put it back on, it'll be all good.

it'll go out of tune, so make sure you know how to tune it or get it retuned by someone else. taking the head off that is, not putting in the pillow

Yeah you can re-use it. It's like a guitar string in the essense that you can remove it and put it back on a drum set as many times as you want as long as you don't break it or tear it...

Also, the bass drum, from what I figure is the easiest to tune, the hardest being the high tom, from me exp. remember.

as long as you don't puncture it you'll be fine.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

Yeah it's fine. Though you'll have to retune the drum, and maybe shake it a bit to get the pilow in the posiition you want.

I didn't even bother putting mine back on, it sounds much better without a front head.

Yea, itll go back on. And even if you mess it up, its just the front head. Its not like it changes the tone much at all.

hahaha....you'd be suprised...

when the beater hits the batter head, it pushes alot of air through the drum. if there isnt another head(reso) there to keep the air in or sustain the air...that will effect the sound...

get it....resonance head?
