Mostly gonna be playing in the bedroom and the garage. I play mostly Metallica, metalcore stuff, Carlos Santana, old guns n roses, and A7X (from waking the fallen to today). Im on a budget of $500-800, maybe a little more maybe a little less. I don't mind buying used but I can't buy ebay. Please halp

Try to find a used Mesa Mark series. They'll cover all of that really nicely, especially Santana.

Or if you want a modelling amp:

id say check out a valve king

For your price you can do much better than a ValveKing. If you want to look new, I might suggest these.

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Randall-G3-Plus-Series-RG200G3PLUS-2x12-Guitar-Combo-Amp-481689-i1395709.gc It may be too loud for bedroom playing, but if you ever gig in the future it'll be great.

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Blackheart-BH15-112-Handsome-Devil-Series-15W-1x12-Tube-Guitar-Combo-Amp-483097-i1400400.gc It may not quite reach metal on its own, but with your savings you can get a Metal Muff and a good OD and you'll get there easy.

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Line-6-Spider-Valve-112-40W-Guitar-Combo-Amp-104616750-i1323853.gc The SS spiders have a bad rep, but the valves (in my experience) are pretty good.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll take a further look into the mesa since a lot of bands i like use them, and the randall/line 6 look really good too. All your help is greatly appreciated.
EDIT: oh and thanks Shadow for all that research!

^The Randall is pretty good from the clips I've heard, but the spider valve still sounds like a spider.

I'd get that

If your dead set on buying new, maybe a b-52 or something

B-52s have a nice tone, but they break before my girlfriend can orgasm.

Don't get any Bugera's, Marshall MG's or Spiders.
You can get much better for your money. Something that wont realize sounds awesome after your first week or so of playing it.

In my opinion, I'd go with a Randall G3 like listed above. Great SS amps, for a good price.

You live in New Zealand, your opinion doesn't count.

But have you had one break on you or do you have any first hand experience thereof?

Anecdotal evidence can be countered with more anecdotes.

Also, 1. Do you have a girlfriend and 2. can you make her orgasm?

wat?

My neighbour's son had an AT-112, and I was actually jamming with him when the tube blew. He took it in and got the tube changed, all was well until I heard him tell me again that the wiring had crapped out on him.

No I don't have a girlfriend at this moment, but I can quite safely say I'm doing better than 80% of the UG population given that I last had sex two weeks ago.
