I have made quite a few threads.
I am sorry.

I have recently tried to buy a 5150 used.

My dad won't let me buy used.
:/

So I have 700 dollars.

and the amp I get has to be new.

I play mostly hard rock - metal.
some softer rock.

I play bands like
Nirvana
Metallica
The Strokes
Coheed and Cambria
Trivium
Avenged Sevenfold
Atreyu

I mostly play in drop d/c.

Budget is 700.

The amp would be used for a lot of bedroom practice and in the future would be used for band practice.

I was thinking of these as my options right now.

Bugera 333XL-212 Guitar Combo Amplifier
http://www.zzounds.com/item--BUG333XL212

or
Crate V Series V50-112 50W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Crate-V-Series-V50-112-50W-1x12-Tube-Guitar-Combo-Amp-487054-i1322695.gc

then running this through it.
Seymour Duncan SFX-04 Twin Tube Mayhem Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Seymour-Duncan-SFX-04-Twin-Tube-Mayhem-Distortion-Guitar-Effects-Pedal-500251-i1421434.gc

Advice please.
I just want a good tone.

Current Setup is
Ibanez RG2EX1
Gibson Les Paul Studio

Roland MicroCube.

Bugera's are just cheaply made knock-offs of other amps. There are countless reviews of them breaking, and even a picture of the inside partially melted with fluids leaking after playing it for a little while.

Since you can't buy used, I would go to the closest shops and try out all different combo's. It hard to suggest an amp to some people, because obviously everybody likes things a little differently.

Why won't your dad let you buy used? That's obnoxious.

I love the sound of the Bugera.

But the stories about ti scare me.
and I will have to buy it online.

I'm scared about getting one and it breaking on me.
Because this is my first tube amp and I don't know much about them.

My dad doesn't want me investing so much money into something that isn't new?
Hes weird like that. I think its because he knows nothing about guitar or amps so he can't really inspect before I buy.

Why not buy used?? There are some things in life that come best when used (guitars, imo. and girls).

Just kidding about the latter...kinda.

EDIT:
PEAVEY?

I have read many many times to stay away from valvekings.
I have played one and didn't really dig it.

I'm 16.
Dad rules the house.
I'm a good kid. I don't oppose him.
and
he bought me a Gibson after 3 months of playing because i do everything I'm asked.

my birthday was yesterday.
I have 700 dollars from that and from work.

So now I want a nice tube amp.

I really like that Crate.
and the Seymour Duncan pedal sounds amazing to me.

How good are Crate V series cleans?

****ing nice dad, I couldn't even get my mom to buy me a ****ing squier

The crate sounds pretty good from the demo's i've heard, haven't been able to test one out for myself though, but either way I'm buying one on friday, there's nothing better for the price, even if I don't like it...it's pretty much that or an MG or FM.

and I'm pretty confident that the tube amp is gonna be better than the SS

I'll get that crate for 200.

Then get the seymour duncan twin tube mayhem pedal for 220.

That would be a good set-up especially for the price.
right?

I would have nice cleans.
As well as real good distortion from that pedal.
It seems real versatile form the videos I have watched.

I'm pretty set on that Crate now.
Such a great price.

So now it comes down to what pedals to get for it.

Any better distortion pedals than that one i mentioned?

thats a VERY good dist. pedal, id stick with that, maybe get a high-end wah?

Alright guys.
I'm going with that set-up I think.
Unless someone can convince me otherwise.

EDIT: Should I go with the 18 watt version or the 50 watt version?

I will be playing in my bedroom a lot.

But will be jamming with friends over drums and other guitars too.

I've personally tried those out in the store, and I think its pretty awesome. But as someone else stated, it really can't do metal that well. But if you get some sort of tube od pedal you'll be more than fine.

Its really just that simple. The crates cleans are very detailed and crisp with a mellow mid. Slap a big ass tube driven distortion pedal in front of it and you're good to go.

I'd recommend the blackstar pedals, just try em'. That or mesa/boogie came out with some ****ing wicked ass ds pedal a while back.
