what epiphone is it? I'd say new amp first, frontmans suck.

I have the EC50, don't ever use it anymore. it was a great first electric, but that's all... would never get another one. it's heavy, chips easily, pretty bad tone, intonation sucked... but hey, I probably didn't take the greatest care.
go with the LP. start saving up for some new pickups as well, you'll be much better off. the stock pickups in my Epi SG Deluxe sucked... maybe the LP starts out better.
