Awesome VA bands?
well, let's get The RipOuts and my solo project out of the way
But in my area, The Feed and The Frau Pansies are excellent bands and good friends of mine. I recorded the Frau Pansies and play bass for them, though it's not technically "my band" so I don't feel the need to promote it as such.

and Ska Wars, Jimmy, whichever you prefer, you should check out The Black Powder . They're friends of mine and the drummer and guitarist live down in Richmond now. I carpool to class with their bassist. They seem like a band this board would like.

^Do the RipOuts have a purevolume or a myspace? I have the oddest feeling that I've heard them before. Just in passing though.

F*ck pissant... Joe is a woman-beating piece of sh*t. They're extra pissed at us ever since I stole his woman and dedicated our song "Punk Rock Checklist" to them when we played with them.

Plus their music is complete sh*t

I played with them this past saturday.
You should have been there.

Woman beating? Really? I don't know them personally, so I didn't know that. Well, I don't want to support that kind of thing. If you're being serious, I won't listen to them anymore.

Oh, I like that song. Punk Rock Checklist, that is.

That's gross. I've never met them or anything. I got a copy of a copy of one of their cds from the chick I didn't really even like a couple years ago.

Well, they've lost a fan then.

Haha awesome! Maybe we set up a purevolume long ago? I don't know. We use MySpace a lot though.

My town is really inconvienently located, just far away enough from any decent punk scenes to be basically inaccessible. I wish I had a driver's license
If only summer rain would fall, on the houses and the boulevards
And the sidewalk bagatelles, it's like a dream
With the roar of cars and the lulling of the cafe bars,
The sweetly sleeping sweeping of the Seine...

The Reserve (Skate Punk/Hardcore Punk)

**** yes the Reserve are awesome. I saw 'em at the chupe den and was ****ed up out of my mind, they were playing with Common enemy. As far as Richmond bands go, I'm a street punk so of course I like the Social Dropouts (I'm sure they aren't this board's favorite band though). Their guitarist Chris is a cool guy, i've talked to him several times. I also like Critical Issue, No Way Out and Clockwork Bully (both of which are dead now) were pretty good imo.

As for the roll call thing I'm Tony from Stafford.

Corey - Richmond. (VCU Area)
Only show i know about is the Jerry Misfits (who arent really worth seeing) are coming to toads place, I havent gotten to look into a lot of local bands yet, I got here a year ago and havent met anybody who knows anything.
I wish I would though, I've been looking to try and start a band up here.

EDIT: and I don't know if it counts, but Bad Brains are going to play DC soon.

i thought there were lots from chicago...damn...

Rancid are the best punk band ever.

Tim Armstrong is a songwriting genius, is a complete fashion diva and has an incredible singing voice.

He doesn't sound like Opie from family guy at all.
#34
Malcolm - McLean

There are some good shows coming up in DC. The Pietasters and The Toasters, Bad Brains, and Gogol Bordello.

I'm technically from Chicago, but I've lived here for almost ten years now. I can't wait to move back.

Plus, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Toasters again. Anything to get away from all the screamo/emo/"hardcore" crap around here.
